Morayvia (Registered Charity SC042895)
Morayvia followers will have seen the media stories of our latest acquisition, an Antonov 2 fuselage. The wings, prop etc are due within the next couple of weeks. Meanwhile volunteers have been hard at work cleaning this unusual aircraft. The pictures below show Morayvia volunteer Chris Herbert hard at work with the pressure washer. Chris has been busy cleaning off the grime which built up whilst the aircraft was lying dormant. Click on each of the images for a larger version.
Once the remaining parts arrive, our team will set about reassembling the aircraft and we’re sure that it will look very different than it does in these pictures. The Antonov 2 was a very versatile aircraft, with a rich and interesting history which started in 1947.
More information about this model of aircraft is available on Wikipedia – https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Antonov_An-2
Reassembling the aircraft is unlikely to be a quick process, as there a large number of components which will need to be identified and catalogued to determine if we have all that we need to complete. This is no airfix model!
Many thanks to the team at LAS Plant Ltd for their assistance with the offloading of the fuselage and fitment of the undercarriage.
Volunteer Chris has been hard at work on the Antonov, and as these pictures show, its had a remarkable change in appearance in the cockpit!
We will provide more updates on progress, and further information about this aircraft soon.
