Visitors to the centre will recognise the de Havilland Vampire T.11 cockpit located just at the entrance to the exhibits area. One of our popular exhibits as you can slide yourself into it’s “snug” seats and get a feel for the conditions the crew would have experienced.
This week some of the team spent a day on the Vampire T.11, removing its canopy prior to getting both ejection seats out. This will allow us to fix one of the seats up/down mechanism which has been broken for some time. In addition, we can also sort out a couple of jobs left over from last year.
The team of Graeme Farris, Willie Swanson and new member Mal Stewart. The exhibit will be back on display as normal for our opening in the spring.
